Guner has an M.Sc. in chemical engineering and is a system engineer. Presently he is working as a web developer. In 1979 he got a scholarship from Siena University in Italy. He took an MBA graduate assistantship from Georgia Southern University in 1980 and became JICA (Japanese International Corporation Agency) in 1982. He speaks English, Italian and French. He worked in Libya in the oil industry for 5 years and now holds a green card from Germany. He is interested in physics, philosophy, flight simulators and playing bridge.
